Brand Identity & Logo Design

The founder of a payments start-up enlisted my help to create the brand identity and logo for their business venture. Their service revolved around empowering small places of worship to receive centralized digital donations.

Brand

My client wanted to use symbolism from the Indian culture, as their initial customers were Hindu temples.

Through extensive research, brainstorming, and mind-mapping I proposed the brand name 'DAAN'.

Dāna (Devanagari: दान) is a Sanskrit and Pali word that connotes the virtue of generosity, charity or giving of alms in Indian philosophies. It is alternatively transliterated as daana. In Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism, dāna is the practice of cultivating generosity.

Here are the finalized designs I created.

Identity 🪔

My client wanted their brand to invoke the act of giving, generosity, warmth.

To be a symbol of bringing light to darkness.

Strategy

The initial user group belonged to a specific demographic, however I advised that we implement design motifs that are universal. This way I ensured inclusion and scalability in case they expanded their audience to different places of worship.

Final Product

After much deliberation and review we finalized this design since the 'D' portion was fitting as an app icon.
